Hosu was born in Daegu, South Korea in 1990 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He received a BFA in Sculpture from the School of Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2019. He is a recipient of John Quincy Adam Fellowship (2018) and Merit Scholarship (2016-2019) at SAIC. He originally studied engineering at Simon Fraser University from 2008 to 2010, then switched his major to Fine Art after his military service in 2015. He believed more in prophetic power of art which can be the ultimate guidance to every discipline, rather than technical knowledge for a specific field. His work has been in group exhibitions including Senior Expo at Base Space, Chicago, IL (2019); BFA Show, Sullivan Gallery, Chicago, IL (2019); Data Corpse at Chelsea College of Arts, London, UK (2018); Zeitgeist at institute für Alles Mögliche, Berin, Germany (2018); Algomotion, curated by Art and Technology Department at SAIC, Flax Space, Chicago, IL (2018); On the Horizon, and his curatorial project, Our Legacy, at Sumokem Gallery, Daegu, South Korea (2017). He was a panelist of Anthropocene Symposium at Sector 2337, Chicago, IL (2017).
